Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

MBSR is an 8 week educational class that was developed in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School by Jon Kabat-Zinn.  There are decades of research on the MBSR curriculum, showing the multiple benefits of cultivating a mindfulness practice over a period of time, with daily practice.  There is a mandatory orientation meeting, followed by 8 weekly classes and a full day retreat after the 6th week class.  Participants will learn and practice a variety of mindfulness/meditation techniques in a small group setting.  There will be time for discussions and time for practicing in silence.  Participants will practice present moment awareness and gentle movement to reduce stress and wake up more fully to life.  Recorded guided meditations will be provided for home practice.
